    Kaiserslautern is located in the German State of Rhineland-Palatinado, which is in the part southwest of the country.     Missions in times of war:

    • Assigned Command the forces of USA in the theatre.

    Control- 21 of Theatre of Support I Command the TSC Mission: The mission of 21 ª Support Theatre Command is to provide logistic support and from supply to all the elements in the European Theatre of Operations. The mission of 29 ª Zone of Group of Support is to provide for the storage and expedition of this support.

  • USAG Heidelberg

    When the Americans came in Heidelberg back March 1945, which there where intact structures historically. Heidelberg turned into house of European headquarters of the Army, 7 º Command of the Reservation of the Army, and 5 of the Headquarters of the Body.  The Kasernes Heidelberg they were constructed back in 1939- In addition a few of most respected of military units Germans parked time there, including the best Division of German Infantry.     Heidelberg is known as a great and romantic city which is situated on banks of the Neckar; it occupies today a fabulous position that astraddle on the respective door of a natural and huge entry. This is actually formed by Königstuhl & Heiligenberg (“Monte Santo”). It is dominated by the impressive castle ruins that for 5 long centuries were the residence of the electors brilliant Court Prince- At times considered like the prettiest city of Germany!

  • USAG Grafenwoehr

    Grafenwoehr is placed in magnificent Bavaria, it is near Nuremberg. When it comes to the main command, it is 7 º Command of Training of the Army with the basic mission of the formation. Moreover, there are like around 1000 individuals assigned like permanent part in Grafenwoehr. In the year 1998, the 7 º Army Command of Training (7ATC) initiated an exercise with live ammunition to train to the armored forces of work and companies in Grafenwoehr Area of Formation. This one is huge change in soil usage in terms of GTA that has totally supported the traditionally only maneuvers limited out of the road.

    To fully achieve their goal, the principal tasks include the renovation and in terms of modifications in the Complex range of multiple uses; continuation of recapitalization of current ranges to fulfill the doctrinal procedure and tactical realism; sending of the digital systems AAR to the ranges of primary qualification.

    It improves fixed and mobile targetry, and the constant development of the CMTC-LF. The specific projects identified at present times, including a collective construction of Combined Weapon Centers of Training, the construction of a range of Aviation, etc. This is just a magnificent spot that cannot be left behind!   • USAG Darmstadt Training Center

    It is a non-active base that was closed in 2008, as the authorities of the base was transferred to USAG Heidelberg, which is also located in Germany. The base was stationed with 22nd Signal Brigade and 66th Military Intelligence Group. There were around 9000 personnel living with their families on the base; there were approximately 4000 families living on base. The base comprised of both civilians and military personnel working for US military. The base also had a German airfield captured in 1945. There had been many changes on the base for better functioning of the base.

    The base is located around 30km from Heidelberg base and it comprise of number of sub-communities inside the base. The base also hosted number of US military programs; some programs are still active today while others are closed. Interestingly the base was also home to military newspaper. The base is also very near to city Frankfurt and all US military flights were strictly monitored by United States Air Force Europe.

    A good feature of the base was that it had all the features of a city such as school, health care facilities, parks, recreational activities and more. The area is surrounded with mountains and greenery, which offered families living on the base with perfect environment. The base was designed similar to German architecture; some of the buildings even belonged to World Wars.

    Aschaffenburg is a city located in the north-west of Germany; it provided number of faculties to the base such as logistic services, military support and other services to families living in the area. The city also provided supplies to the base and supported number of US military operations held in the area. But after its closure the city no longer provide services to Darmstadt base and does not support military operations.

  • Campbell Barracks

    It is a major US base in Europe and it operates as US Army Headquarters for European Operations. The base is located in the city of Heidelberg in the south-west of Germany. It is also home to NATO’s Component Land Headquarters. The base played a major role in both World Wars as part of Nazi Germany. It also operated as a vital part of Adolph Hitler’s military. It also played a major role in Cold War.

    The allied forces first entered the city in 1945 and without many efforts. The structure of the city remained intact and was not destroyed by the allied forces. Later the US base was captured that causes the regiment to move from Augsburg to Heidelberg. The US Seventh Army headquarters moved to Heidelberg in 1945 and remained there till 1946. The US Army also established an Army police to maintain law and order situations in US zones, which were disrupted due to immense war in the city.

    Talking about the role of the base in Cold War, the US forces stationed in Europe especially in Campbell Barracks in early 1990s, played vital role in the war.     Today the base works with collaboration of 15 NATO nations, which lead to new constructions on the base. The base also introduced new operations designed to meet new requirements of the base. The base now offers services to its allied nations stationed in Europe through NATO headquarters on Campbell Barracks.

    The base also focuses on resolving land issues, provides assistance in land operations, command and control, logistic services, training and exercise services to allied nation forces.

  • USAG Baumholder

    Baumholder is a small town in Germany and it is widely known for US base that was established during 1950s. There are around 12,000 US military personnel stationed on the base, they works on the base and moves around in the town. There are also other bases in Germany but Baumholder base offers military support to other bases as it is stationed with number of regiments and delta forces such as 5th Cavalry Regiment also known as Delta Troops. The Delta Troops have vast experience in both traditional and urban wars, they played key role in World War I and II, Afghan and Iraq War, and they are stationed around the world.

    The base is also stationed with 170th Infantry Brigade that was especially designed to be stationed in Baumholder base. The regiment is also a part of program designed to expand US Army to around 75,000 soldiers while stationed on the base. The program is estimated to be completed till 2013. The basic purpose of the program is to establish a new regiment that is much stronger than other regiments. The newly formed regiment may return to United States by 2012 or 2013 where it may be equipped with better training and form heavier and stronger combat team.

    The base offers all basic facilities of a small city such as health care, primary and secondary school for families living here. The Baumholder town is home to local festivals and exhibitions, which creates recreational activities for families on the base.

    The US soldiers on the base were also reported to be involved in crime activities in the town of Baumholder in 2005. The local police arrested two US soldiers from the town who were later handed over to US military; the incident severely damaged the image of the base.

  • USAG Bamberg

    The Bamberg base is also referred to as USAG Bamberg and Warner Barracks at some places. The base is located in the city of Bamberg in southern Germany. And it is also considered as one of the best US stations outside the country. The best thing about the base is that US soldiers are stationed with their families and they are provided with all the facilities of a complete city such as education, health, recreational activities and more. The base has little lack of transport facilities for families living in the area so it makes it useful to have own transport.

    The base has been under control of US forces since after World War II. The 3rd and 45th Infantry Division played key role in capturing the area from Nazi Germany. The 3rd Infantry Division is still active but the 45th Infantry Division is not active anymore.

    In 1891 the 5th Royal Bavarian Division entered the area and built many buildings and houses, which were used during both World Wars; today some of them still stands today and are now part of historical architecture. During both wars the base was stationed with different regiments of Germany and other countries. One of the most popular regiment stationed on Bamberg base was 17th Cavalry Regiment of Germany. An airfield was built on the base in 1928, which is still in use today. Surprisingly the Bamberg has been stationed with almost all the regiments of Germany for some time.

    The US forces entered the area in 1950 and named the base as Warren Barracks, named after Henry F. Warren who also received Medal of Honor in 1945. Today the base has been divided into different groups according to regiments, combat training teams and other groups. The base has also received munitions exchanges in early years of occupation; today it is has strict operations and exercises.

  • USAG Ansbach

    Germany Ansbach is also known as USAG Ansbach and it is located in the town of Ansbach, Germany. The base has very importance as it administrates all operations of US Arm Force in the Southern region of Germany. The base is an attraction of German architecture where installation of US Forces is stationed but they do not have the permission to operate in the country. The base comprises of US Forces with their families and they have all the features of a city. Ansbach is a very beautiful town and has great features, which is perfect for training exercise. It is not a very effective base as it is designed to train and exercise in hostile conditions and terrains of Germany.

    In 1945 the Western Allied Invasion of Germany, much of the area was captured by United States Third Army or commonly known as United States Central Army. The US Third Army used 354th Fighter Group comprising of air planes such P-47 Thunderbolt to capture the area from Nazi Germany. After the war the US Forces along NATO forces stayed in the area until the installation was divided into five different groups in Germany. Today they have upgrades their bases with more buildings such as school and library for their families, hospital and other useful facilities. The base does not have air squadrons and has no fight jet planes in the area; they only have training and exercises facilities and equipments.

    Talking about facilities on the base, the base is a popular sporting area for US soldiers stationed in Germany. It also has fitness center with trained staff and offer lockers, wide range of fitness equipments and other good facilities. The base also has a bowling area with snacks bars, professional bowling shops. The base also offers outdoor sport activities such as skiing and resorts.

  • Novo Selo Training Range

    It is also known as Novo Selo Training Range built in 1962. It is one of the most important training facilities in Bulgaria, which is used by both Bulgarian and NATO forces stationed in the country. It is a large training facility and it is located around 45km away from Bezmer Air Base, which is a major air force base. The range is also very close to port of city Burgas in the Silven province of Bulgaria. The base is widely used by NATO and US Arm forces; it is also home to numerous joint US-Bulgaria training exercises.

    The base is also used for biological and chemical weapon testing, tank shooting and reconnaissance training exercises. The range is also home to nuclear weapon testing. Infact the range is one of the widely visited training facilities by NATO and US Forces, which makes it count in one of the best training and testing ranges in countries where US Forces are stationed. The range was first used by international forces in 2004 and it is still in use. A good feature of Bulgaria Novo Selo Range is that it is surrounded by mountains and empty areas.

    The base has also offered its services in number of wars including Cold War. The United States has invested around $60 million since 2008 in building new structures and training facilities, and it is still in construction. Infact it is the only state-of-the-art training range to support international exercises in the country.

    The base is also enlisted in Defense Cooperation Agreement that was signed between United States and Bulgaria. The agreement also includes that no more than 2500 soldiers from US Forces will be stationed in Bulgaria. And the duration of the exercise will be of limited time. The base is under the control of Bulgaria but it is usually used by international forces.

  • US Army Garrison Brussels

    The United States Army Garrison Brussels is the US Army liason to NATO headquarters and also to the European Units which are housed in Brussels. The United States Army Garrison Brussels mission is to perform the executive functions in support to all the US government agencies including the Department of States, Department of Defense and other US government personnel with their families designated in Brussels because of the presence of NATO headquarter. It is responsible for the different logistic and administrative functions in supporting the 2,700 people living in the base including their families. It also supports the Canadian Forces with their families that are assigned in USAG Brussels through a bilateral agreement.

    The services offered by USAG Brussels are the Army Post office, Consignment Shop, Barber Shop, Housing Office, Education Center, Transportation Division, engineering team, a Chapel, Finance Office, Food Court, Army Air Force Exchange Service Shoppette and a branch of Andrews Federal Credit Union. USAG Brussels aside from being the base for the US personnel working at NATO offers its support to the Defense Attache office at the US embassy, Brussels American School, Canadian military delegation to NATO and the office of the Defense Covperation. There are no military housing facilities in USAG Brussels but there is a designated office that will assist in the leasing and location of housing to the military family.

    The USAG Brussels is 60 minutes drive from Chievres Garrison near Belgium and the USAG Shinnen and five minutes drive to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Brussels is situated i150 miles from Amsterdam and 220 miles from Paris. The garrison’s compound is just five minutes drive from the NATO Offices.

    The United States Army Garrison has its non-combat mission in servicing the 30th Signal Battalion, a support and communication unit.

  • White Sands Missile Range (WSMR)

    The largest rocket range of United States Army is the White Sands Missile Range which covers a 3,200 square miles in the southern part of New Mexico and five other nearby counties. Otera Range and the Oscura Mesa bombing range are found in this installation area.  Fort Bliss Range Complex which occupies 600,000 acres makes the place an ideal location for the military testing.

    White Sands Missile Range objective is to offer the best service in the following areas such as design, test research, experimentation, development, training and assessment for new missile procedures. At present, White Sands Missile Range conducts the following operations of the Solar Dynamics Observatory, Orion Project Launch Abort flight Test Complex Ground Support for the Tracking and Data Relay Satellite and the different operations related to missile testing and recovery.

    The location of Sands Missile Range is perfect for various applications in support for the missile testing. The main testing range is found in Tularosa Basin in the south-central part of New Mexico and the other range is the Electronic Proving Ground situated in the base of Huachuca Mountains in the southeastern part of Arizona. The main range has an area of 40 miles by 100 miles.

    This range is bounded by El Paso on the south, Alamogordo on the north eastern part and Las Cruces on the west and the mountains that have a height of 9,000 feet which serve as a good location for various missile testing. The main range has dry climate with rainfall of 12 inches yearly and has low humidity while the other range has perfect weather with open space, good visibility perfect environment for testing the electronic war equipments and other communication facilities.

  • USAG Benelux history begins it was assigned as the 80th ordnance Group and was started it operation in Luneville, France on January 25, 1945.  It stopped its operation later in that same year at Ft. Benning, Georgia and once again in operation in 1954 at Red River Arsenal in Texas.  On 1966 when the USAG Benelux was assigned to Vietnam it was designated as the 80th General Support Group. After being active for more than five years with thirteen different operations in Vietnam, the army base again stopped its operation. On August 30, 1984, the 80th ASG was again reactivated at Chievres, Belgium and united with the NATO/SHAPE Support Group and it was moved later in that same year to Caserne Daumerie.

    At present, the Chievres Air Base is the home for the 390th Airlift Squadron which transports the supply and the employees of the NATO forces around Europe. The current plan of the base that was built last 2007 paved the way to additional projects, army lodge and the new base commissary. USAG Benelux offers housing to their active duty personnel which include the newly renovated housing projects for their officers and the apartments for their rank and file personnel that can accommodate six hundred families residing in the base.

  • Fort Sill Army Base

    The Oklahoma Fort Sill was once the house of United States Army Artillery field Center, which included the Field Artillery campus- School and the III Corps field Artillery, not to mention the Army Center meant for Fires, yet, the BRAC Commission actually recommended the Air Defense specific unit to be transferred to Fort Sill- supporting the respective establishment of Net Fires facility, in combination with the Artillery together with ADA schools providing force stabilization opportunities for many soldiers there in the unit.     It is considered a main point, somehow a U.S. major Army installation. It is exactly located in Oklahoma, a region full of open spaces & many clear light blue skies. The soldiers are properly trained and capable to meet the needs; the Training Center is responsible to meet a certain level. The skills are to be mastered.  Are you familiar with the many events that took place? For instance, units have been expanded, especially after the 214th Fields Artillery Brigades that were  composed back then, today it is all about a 2d Battalion, a 4th Fields Artillery known as the MLRS; first Battalions, the 14th Fields Artillery, the 3rd Battalion time, the 13th Fields Artillery; & the 19th full Maintenance Battalion.

  • Picatinny Arsenal

    It is basically American military research and development facility located near Lake Denmark in New Jersey. It is also headquarter of United American Army Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center. The facility was founded in 1880 and has been in operation since then. It is also home to experts in US Army small size ammunitions, especially a small part of weapon known as Picatinny rail, which is designed to hold cartridges for the gun.

    Initially a part of the facility was acquired by Navy to build a gun powder manufacturing company under the name Lake Denmark Naval Ammunition Storage. The company was expended to manufacture larger ammunitions during World War I. The company also started conducting research and development activities to find ways to build better ammunitions for the war. The company initially started with 18,000 employees.

    It is now manufacturing ammunitions for US Armed Forces; it is also manufacturing armors and weapons. Another feature New Jersey Picatinny Arsenal has is that it was first used to store gun powder for military in north east of US. But a bad tragedy occurred in 1926 when lightening stuck and all the stored ammunitions were destroyed. After the accident the facility was given under the command of US Armed Forces for better protection of the storage.

    The facility offered its services in research activities and played major role in both World Wars. It also played a major part in producing more useful munitions such as smokeless powder and more. After the World War II the company focused on manufacturing weapons for US soldiers stationed in Korea. The company also focused on improving its previous weapons including bazooka, which is one of the most widely used weapons in the world especially in Vietnam War. Infact the US Army still uses ammunitions made at New Jersey Picatinny Arsenal.

  • New York Military Academy

    The New York Military Academy (NYMA) was established on 1889 by a Civil War veteran named Charles Jefferson Wright whose main belief that a good military structure needs the best surrounding for military excellence. The academy is situated in 30 acres of land in Cornwall-on-Hudson, New York at the base of Storm King Mountain and near the Hudson River.

    NYMA started with 48 students and during its peak on 1960s has 525 students and as of 2010 they have 145 enrollees. NYMA starts from college preparatory school giving stress to military education to students from the New York and from around the world who wants to gain the best education a military can have. The academy is accredited by the New York State Department of Education and a member of Middle States Association of Schools and Colleges.

    The NYMA has undergone extensive reconstruction program since it was caught in a disastrous fire. The academy is considered one of the oldest military academies in the country. It was on 1975 when the academy became a coeducational school giving chance to women who wants to be part of the military. It teaches the students the value of leadership and community awareness. The academy consists of 80% local enrollees and the rest are mixture of students from other parts of the world who believes in the quality of military education NYMA has.

    A typical day at the academy starts at 6:00 am and ends at 10:00 pm by attending classes at day time and participating in different activities like sports and on weekends they are required to attend drill and ceremony, leadership training and cleaning their barracks. The military cadet with good scholastic standing can have their weekend leave.

    NYMA who was striving because of the decrease in enrollment and lack of funds was saved by the academy’s alumni and local officials by raising a fund worth $6 million which is used in the rehabilitation of the Academy under the new management.

    Fort Dix calls this way for the John Adams Dix. The construction began during the June, 1917. Camp Dix, since it was known in this then, was a formation and putting in scene of land for the units during the First World War the camp turned into a center of demobilization after the war. Between both world wars, the Camp Dix was the receipt; the formation and the center of unload for the Civil Body of Conservation. Camp Dix turned into Fort Dix on March 8, 1939, and the installation turned into a permanent position of the Army. During and after the Second World War the strength served the same intention that in the First World War. It served as the formation.

    It served as the formation and the operational headquarters during the war and a center of demobilization after the war.  On July 15, 1947, Fort Dix turned into a Center of Basic training and of the house of 9 ª Division of Infantry. In 1954, the ninth one it changed and 69 ª Division of Infantry did the strong house, until it deactivated on March 16, 1956. During the rapid expansion of the war of Vietnam it was carried out. A model of the people of Vietnam was built and the soldiers received specific formation of Vietnam before being unfolded. From Vietnam, Fort Dix actually sent soldiers to fulfill the specific Operation Shield of the Desert, Storm of the Desert, Bosnia, Afghanistan and Iraq.
