    Gaeta is a town of about 21,000 inhabitants, situated 130 km south east of Rome, Latium province of Italy, Coordinates 41 ° 13’N 13 ° 34’E, with an area of 11 square miles. The city is a port and a resort that is in a hilly region on a spit that extends the Gaeta Gulf, south east of Sperlonga. The region can meet a rich vegetation of Mediterranean type, where reigns a climate with mild winters and hot summers. There lies the natural park “Monte Orlando, where you can take a series of hiking through pine groves and palm trees.

    Gaeta is an intimate retreat. Rich in history, medieval city was built during the Roman period. The settlement favorable climate and environment have made ​​Gaeta one of the most desirable destinations in the region. Visit nearby cities of Caserta, TLS famous Royal Palace, and the Casino.

    Gaeta is also a big Military Base for U.S troops and one of the biggest U.S military Bases in Italy.     Missions that Gaeta Military Base conducts are primary of supporting the 6th fleet staff by maintaining facilities and support for them and even for the USS LaSalle personnel, even for their families that are residents in the Gaeta Area. It is actually marvelous.

    American soldiers and their families live in the town or in other close town`s like Itri, Formia and Vindicio in special managed apartments and even some of them live in houses but this is very rare.

  • Naval Support Activity Souda Bay

    The Naval Support Activity Souda Bay is home to NATO Maritime Interdiction operational Training Centre (MNIOTC). It is found on the Hellenic Air Force Base near the Village of Mouzouras which is ten miles in the eastern side of Hania City, Greece. This houses the 115th Combat Wing of Hellenic Air Force which offers their service in relation to the building and utilities. The NSA Souda Bay stands in 110 acres of land on the northern side of the air base. The base is surrounded by the beautiful sceneries and unique culture. It became a popular tourist destination by numerous numbers of tourists that want to experience the hospitality, unique civilization and warm weather.

    The US Naval Support Souda Bay, Sigonella and Rota provide Logistic support and Command Control to US and NATO Operating Forces. These three units support the CENTCOM AND the operations in the African area with the help of the USAF airlifts. The US Naval Support Activity provides support to US Sixth Fleet Aircraft. The United States Naval Support expands their fighting capabilities in times of war through their superior quality of services and facilities in their plight to be of service to the readiness of the combat and secure the aircraft, ships, personnel and detachments.

    The US Naval Airfield has a dual function as a military airport and civilian airport to Hania. The military airport is located just walking distance to the civilian terminal. The Souda port serves as the port for the NATO Naval base and the Hellenic Navy as well as the harbor for freight ships that provides the usual ferry service in the area. The naval base includes the barracks for old artillery f the Hellenic Army V Division. It also includes a workshop, a dry dock, and ammunition depot and a fuel depot.

  • Joint Region Marianas

    The US Naval Forces, Marianas(Joint Region Marianas), is a United States Navy installation unit that provides management support to the Department of Defense units and their personnel, make sure that all the environmental regulations and laws, acts as crossing point between the defense unit and the civilian personnel, the human rights policy, safety laws and other functions that is needed in the base.     The year 1944 to 1949, the military government awarded the US Naval Forces Marianas commander as governor of the Marshall-Gilberts; deputy military governor, Bonin-Volcano Islands and the deputy military governor, Pacific ocean areas. From 1944 to 1952, it served as the naval operation base which provides service to all kinds of navy services. The Naval base was deactivated on September 1956 and it was reestablished under the command of the US Naval Force Marianas.

    The US Air Force and the US Navy held a ceremony on February 6, 2009 signaling the start of the Joint Region Marianas by sharing the same headquarters at Nimitz Hill. Though under the Joint Region Marianas, they will have their own commanding officers who will be responsible in all their duties and operations. This signals the joint partnership between Air Force Guam and the US Navy eliminating the 30 mile gap between Andersen Air Force Base and the US Naval Base Guam.

    When the Korean War was finished, America and Japan entered into an agreement known as the SOFA which opened the door for Japan Self Defense Forces and the Japan Maritime Self Defense Forces’ ships began to dock in the ports of Sasebo. During the Southeast Asia War the US Fleet Activities Sasebo supported the expansion of the Seventh Fleet and until now there repairs being made to the different ships which is comparable to the best ships in the world.   • Guantanamo Bay Naval Base

    It is one of the oldest US Naval bases located in the Guantanamo Bay province of Cuba.     The Guantanamo Bay also serves as US Naval Base that was established during Spanish-American War. After the war the US Forces captured large area of Spain and its complete sovereignty was given to Cuban Republic except the area of Guantanamo Bay as it was already in use by US Forces for refueling. The base becomes an important location for US Forces during World War II as it become the distribution point of conveys, which were arriving from of United States.

    In 1939 the Cuban government restricted the US Naval base from number of services such as water supply. The United States paid fee for different services to keep the base running. Today the situation on US Naval base has fairly settled and it is still in operation.

    The exercises and operations forces from the Hasmite Kingdom and the United States took part in the cooperative training exercise known as Infinite Moonlight 98 from May 14 to June 8, 1998.in plain environment.   The USS Tarawa Amphibious Readiness Group was maintained and by the NRCC Bahrain. The NRCC Bahrain provided the berthing and messing as well as the equipments used by the soldiers.  The Fury 98 (Nov 98) conducted a special operation exercise with the US Special Armed Operations Forces and the Bahraini Armed Forces at Sheik Isa Air Base.     Since the colonial settlement, the forests were able to provide lumber to build the wooden boats and meet the construction needs. The Treaty Building was back in 1912. Many prisoners of the war were actually encamped before in 1898 and it happened right on the base grounds.

    Later, in 1905, the construction started directly on Portsmouth Prison, it was like a military prison called The Castle due to the strong resemblance of crenellated castle. This was like the main prison built for Marine Corps, and it was also housing for German crew’s right after the capture, till it was then closed later in 1974.

    Currently, the Naval Support Activity is undergoing renovation and rehabilitation projects that will make room for more improvement in their services and facilities. On April 13, 1935, British Navy developed the naval station HMS JUFFAIR in the NSA site. In 1950, United States lease a portion of space in the area from British and the British troops left Bahrain due to the expiration of their treaty agreement leaving the place awarding the place total independence. After United States had signed a contract with Bahraini Government, the US took control part of the HMS JUFFAIR and change the name to managerial Support Unit Bahrain and later named as the managerial Support Unit then on 1979, ASU Southwest Asia was made the Naval Support Activity Bahrain.

    NSA is the major naval base in the area that provides support to the marine and naval activities of the operation Iraqi Freedom and operating Enduring Freedom. Though the NSA Bahrain has existed for more than ten years, the presence of United States can still be felt in the naval base and after sixty years, the improvement has develop from small units to the modern day infrastructures. The naval base gives support to United States Armed Forces and its allied forces by supporting their Navy exchange facility and recreation, morale and welfare programs through their logistic, projection and supply services.

  • Naval Station Pascagoula

    The Mississippi Pascagoula Naval is built on an artificial island created by dumping of debris from the Pascagoula Channel and a shipyard close by the Singing River. The total land covered by the Naval Base is about 437 acres and was established when the navy saw the need to establish other naval bases aside the already existing ones. The construction project started in 1988 and was completed for the opening of the base by 1992, when USS Gallery, the maiden ship arrived on the coast of the island.

    The Base was however closed in 2006 and by July 2007 handed over to the office of the Secretary of State of Mississippi. As at 2005, the staff strength of the Pascagoula Naval Base was 200 civilians, 2,000 military staff. Apart from these workers, family of military staff, retirees on the country and their family also lived on the island and it was estimated that, the base had a total of 100 million dollars, will all services, contracts and payrolls inclusive. The F99 station was given the responsibility of managing and operating the facility as a Naval Support Center.

    The Pascagoula Naval Station offered support services to crews of combatant ships, assigned to the surface ships and also crew onboard the base facility and ships stationed at the facility. The facilities at the base also supported other Navy installations and the Navy fraternity at large. Most of the Divisions and Agencies of the Navy located in the facility mainly have to do with the welfare of the officials and their family members; the Housing Referral Office, the Recreation Department, the Family Support Center and the Moral Welfare units are all located within the base facility. Facilities at the Base include quayside berths, located on the lower deck.  The base also undertakes maintenance services on the Navy’s ships either directly or contracting it to other shipyards around.

  • Portsmouth Naval Shipyard

    Portsmouth Naval Shipyard was founded on June 12, 1800 when John Adams was the President of Unites States is the oldest operational navy shipyard in the country. It is situated in Kittery in the southern part of Maine close to Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The shipyard is positioned on a group of small islands known as the Seavey’s Island placed in the Piscataquis River. This is a very good location for a shipyard because the ice is prevented by the rapid tidal waves of the Atlantic Ocean for easy navigation.

    The shipyard is used mainly for repairing and remodeling the Navy ships and the place has a history of shipbuilding. The first shipyard creation was opened on 1814, the 74 gun Washington line of ship under the supervision of William Badger. This is also the place where the first submarines were constructed; the L-8 submarine is the first submarine constructed here. Following this, barracks were constructed, the workforce multiplies rapidly. After the World War II they continue designing and constructing submarines while the submarine constructed made a great impact on today’s submarines technology and models.

    More than 70 submarines were built at the time of World War II making a record of 4 submarines created daily with over 25,000 workers at the shipyard. Because of this, Portsmouth Naval Shipyard is the hub for their development and design of submarines. An example of this is the Albacore which started the round cross section and the teardrop hull design of the submarine and the shipyard is also proud to say that the first American submarine powered by nuclear the Swordfish is constructed here.
