Kunsan Air Base

The Kunsan Air Base is located in the South Korean town of Gunsan. It is a United States Air Force installation located in South Korea as part of its efforts to support other nations in the area of military. This support is in the area of logistics and personnel. The name of the base comes from the differentiation between the name of the town and the camp. The town was both called Gunsan and Kunsan and so the army personnel decided to name the camp Kunsan and retain Gunsan for the town.

Previously known as the warrior’s base, Kunsan was the base of powerful air strikes during the Korean War. The service personnel at the base train on how to conduct precise air strikes. Climate conditions in Kunsan are a little harsh with winter setting in early November and only leave by the end of February. The land agreement between the United States and South Korea in 2002 retains the US as the main controller of the camp.

The camp is made up of many sites that attract a lot of visitors. Places of historic events and religious temples dot along the roads leading to the installation and hence see many visitors often. Though it supports service personnel adequately, the camp has not made provision for their families and relatives. There is a port built for the camp and is able to take a lot of big vessels.

The camp is dotted with restaurants, bars and shop which supply all the needs of the servicemen. The servicemen patrol the township all day to ensure the safety of the residents. The base is also often used as an ammunition store, where other camps and installations come for their supplies. Kunsan serves as the headquarters of the United States Military Assistant Advisory group. This group oversees the operations of the military and ensures the sound mindedness of the personnel.

K-16 Air Base

K-16 Air Base is one of the United States Army installations in South Korea. Also sometimes called the Seoul Air Base, this facility is mainly used by the Airforce. K-16 Air Base occupies the premises of the Songman Airport and is operated by the Korean Air Force. The 52^nd Aviation Regiment and the 1^st Battalion of the United States Army are the main occupants of k 16. Other occupants include the 501^st Corps support group and the 595^th Maintenance company. In 2005 when the 2^nd Aviation Regiment was relocated from Camp Stanley, K 16 was offered to them as their new operational base.

This camp was a totally independent community on its own with shops, a post office and many others. A recreational center, comprising of a gymnasium, swimming pool and ball courts are available at the camp for the recreation of the personnel. A construction of a 290,000 sq. ft. parking space for aircrafts began in 1999. The camp’s location makes it easily accessible by shuttles that run the camp and the city of Songman.

K-16 Air Base is mainly used as an airfield and aviation training facility. The facility is used for landing military and civilian aircrafts. The parking facility is used by airlines operating in the Songman Airport to park and service their airplanes. The upgrade of the water supply system at the camp provides clean water to surrounding communities. The camp also provides housing for military personnel and their families as well as civilian staff of the camp. Located on the camp is a hospital that offers health services to personnel and members of the general public. Also available are dental and recreational facilities, all of which are open to members of the general public. The camp also provides office and support facilities to all the departments housed there.

USAG Daegu

USAG Daegu is among the largest cities in South Korea and has three military installations. This city is noted for its apple plantations and fruits which are said to be the sweetest in the whole of Korea. The city also has a vibrant textile industry and accounts for most parts of Korea’s textile exports.

Camp Henry is the second largest military installation in Daegu. This camp is established and run by the United States Army to provide logistic, expertise and personnel support to the South Korean military. Camp Henry is situated on a total of 51 acres land. Most of the buildings on this camp are used as administrative offices. There are also accommodation facilities for troops and their families. This camp is also noted for the quality of recreational facilities it can boast of. There are gymnasiums, swimming pools and basketball courts among others.

Camp Walker is perhaps the largest military installation in Daegu. It has is on a total land area of 190 acres. This camp is mainly used for military operations. It has a large airfield usually used for landing military airplanes in the area. The long and well developed runway also provides landing facilities for private and corporate airplanes. There are also training facilities for training military personnel, especially flight officers. The central part of this camp however is a recreational zone. It has all the facilities for the outdoor recreations such as swimming, basketball and soccer, among other things.

Camp George is the third and perhaps the smallest of the three military camps in Daegu. It got its name from a Korean Soldier. This camp has housing facilities and houses army personnel as well as their families. It is also home to the Daegu American School, a basic school with classes from kindergarten to grade 12. It also has recreational facilities for military personnel.

Commander Fleet Activities Chinhae

The Commander Fleet Activities Chinhae Naval base is a United States Navy installation in South Korea. This camp is one of many military installations of the United States in South Korea and was formed out of the Naval Advisory Group in 1946. The total land area covered by the camp is about 84 acres and is very close to the National Korean Naval Base. The Chinhae city is basically made up of the navy personnel from the camp and their families. Employees of the shipyard of the camp also live in the city. The base is in-between a circle of mountains with pines growing on them. The coasts of the camp had quays and piers built on them and were especially used by the Korean Navy. They also used the shipyard to make their own sub-marine and was tested at the camp.

The City is a major tourist attraction because of the camp. Thousands of visitors troop in each year to tour the beautiful cherry trees and the military installation since its establishment. The camp had marine vessel anchorages that are used by both military and civilian vessels. There are also facilities for anchoring smaller vessels usually used by the local people. The shipyard at the camp was used to build ships and other marine vessels for the military and also for civilians. They also undertake boat maintenance and repairs for the local people. Training on safe marine transport practices are organized periodically at the camp and open to members of the general public. The camp also organizes trips for military personnel for educational or recreational purposes. Most of these trips have their destinations as islands. Housing facilities at the base also accommodates personnel and their families as well as civilian employees. The telecommunications station established at the Chinhae naval camp provides adequate communication channels for the military in South Korea and other nearby nations.

Camp Stanley

Camp Stanley is a United States Army installation in South Korea and is a part of the Camp Red Cloud. This installation was started as a temporary tent settlement to accommodate incoming American troops in South Korea, but saw the first permanent building in 1969. The camp was set up to provide military assistance to South Korea as part of the United States international policies on the country. It currently covers a large land surface area and installations forming the camp are scattered all over the land. The first military helicopters from the United States landed in Camp Stanley in 1954 and it has since served the purpose of hosting incoming aircrafts from the United States. It once served as the headquarters of the aviation unit and the 2^nd division artillery.

Camp Stanley is noted for its modern facilities. It has the best hospitals and other amenities compared to other military camps. The hospital and dental clinic serve the American military population in South Korea and their families. The camp also has numerous recreational facilities such as swimming pool, gymnasium, bar and restaurant, movie theatre and bowling center among others. Camp Stanley also run a military helicopter fuelling unit, where dozen helicopters touchdown each day to refuel. Newly arrived troops from the United States are housed in Camp Stanley until they are given permanent postings. Housing structures at the camp also serve as accommodation to some selected troops such as the warrior replacement company, the 61^st maintenance company, the 46^th Transportation Company and many others. The camp also supplies all other camps and military installations in the area 1 with logistics they need for their operations. Also available on the camp is a recycling plant. This plant recycles plastic and other waste products from camp and nearby communities.

Riyadh Air Base

Dariyah located 20 km from the city. Here originated Saud family, who later embraced the entire country. In the village there are a number of places that belong Saud family, in various degrees of restoration. Most buildings date from the years 1920 1930, although the village itself has existed for two centuries. King Khalid Air Base

King Khalid was born 13 June – 1912 he was Crown Prince for 10 years from 1965 to 1975 and after that from 1975 and 1982 he was King of Saudi Arabia. The King Khalid Air Base and Airport is named after him. He was named crown king in 1965 because his older brother Mohammed bin Abdul Aziz refused the throne because he wasn’t to much into politics and he considered Khalid fit for that post. In 1975 Khalid reorganizes the Council of Ministers so he could nominate his brother Fahd to Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia. Khalid made the decision to get foreign labor to help in the process of the country`s development.

In 1976 Khalid was forced by his own office to go in the United States for a heart-open surgery. At that time Khalid even asked President Carter to sell him advanced planes so he could fight the communism in the Saudi Arabia.

In 1982 Saudi Arabia received their first F-15 from the United States government- this meant a huge impact in some aspects. Furthermore, the King Khalid died of a heart attack in .He bought a Booing 747 equipped with a surgery room so he could use it if needed in his travels, but despite that he still died due to the heart problems that he had for years. He was succeeded by Fahd in the throne for Saudi Arabia. It created debates in some places.

Queen Sita was her wife and his children unlike the children of other kings didn’t occupy any big role in the Saudi Arabia Politics and they preferred to stay at a low profile. King Fahd Military Medical Complex

King Fahd was born in 16 March 1921 in Riyadh, at the age of 11 he watches his father (Abdul-Aziz) as he signed the Treaty of Jeddah and as he founded the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is actually a today recognized King, and will remain like this forever.

In 1991 when Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait, King Fahd decided to host U.S troops in his kingdom and later deciding to let U.S troops to establish bases here.
