Seymour Johnson Air Force Base

The Seymour Johnson Air Force Base situated in Goldsboro, North Carolina, is under management by the Air Combat Command. Since established in 1942, the facility has progressed in executing effectiveness in the field and is currently the host property for the 916th Air Refueling Wing and the 4th Fighter Wing. The name assigned, was in honor of a Goldsboro native and test pilot, Seymour Johnson who devoted his life’s work to the installation.

The installation populates a total of 3, 300 hectares in land formation and was fundamentally called Army Air Forces Technical Training Command, Headquarters and Technical School.

The Seymour Johnson Air Force Base is the primary housing for the 4th Fighter Wing, which engages in training and missions alongside the 92 F-15E Strike Eagles. Deployment in various locations worldwide and engaging in air power is deemed a simple task maneuvered, by this unit. The unit also provides training to all pilots operating F-15E aircrafts of all variations, in the United States Air Force.

The military installation provides professional assistance in the Air Combat Command activities engaged for the United States Air Force. The property offers accommodation to 6, 949 family members, 1, 000 civilian employees, 534 active duty officers, 112 reserve officers, 641 enlisted reserves and 3, 800 retirees.

The F-15E engages in night and day missions and has the diverse capability to target, destroy and dominate in details escalated. The 4th Fighter Wing has the responsibility to provide Expeditionary Medical Support packages with logistic aid to the 916th Air Refueling Wing, which is a Federal Penitentiary for Prisoners totaling to over 500. Therefore managing the South West Asia predominate vehicle packages with bunks and storage. The 916th ARW has a total of 10 KC-135R stratotankers assigned, which provides transportation for passengers and cargo along with refueling operations.

    How are the chances to get a space available fight to Southern California ? Need to get there to visit a very ill sister. I live in Fayetteville NC. Any advise would be appreciated.
