There are eight military bases in North Carolina.

  • Fort Bragg

    The North Carolina Fort Bragg is considered as a marvelous and extensive United States facility.     Later on, September 30, 1922 Camp Bragg is renamed to Fort Bragg so it can become a permanent home for the U.S army post. Four barracks were constructed in that time too which stands even today after 89 years.

    U.S Coast Guard was open in 1940 of the 15th of August and first it was a seaplane base, this Air Station was the first command station that the Cost Guard opens in Elizabeth City. Today the base has three helicopters and five long range planes. The primary missions that the Coast Guard do are search and rescue missions, migrants and drugs, applying laws for fishers, support for flight logistics, marine protection, and international ice patrol. They can deal with many tasks; hence they go for innovative techniques. So multitasking stands out when it comes to this spot.     Marine Corps Base in Camp Lejeune cover an area of 246 square miles and it’s a training facility in the North Carolina region. The military base have`s 14 miles of beaches and this fact makes it a perfect place for amphibious assault`s trainings & it is being located between two water ports (Morehead City and Wilmington) it allows an even faster deployment for the troops. They are highly professionals.

    Main base haves five satellite facilities  : Camp Geiger , Marine Corps Air Station New River , Stone Bay , Camp Johnson , Courthouse Bay and the most newly added Greater Sandy Run Training Area.

    In the 1941 of April the construction of 11,000 acres began, tract in North Carolina, Onslow County.1st May of 1941, and Lt.Col. William Pendleton Thompson Hill begins on the construction of the Marine Barracks of New River. This river is actually beautiful. Everything was originated back then in a fantastic way and the many acres started to get form.

    Between the year of 1942 and 1949 MontFord Camp trained 20.000 Afro-American soldiers .Military was fully integrated after that and Montford was renamed to Camp Gilbert H.Johnson and it became home of Marine Corps Combat Service Support Schools.   • USCG National Strike Force

    The National Strike force coexistent of the United States Coast Guard is assigned as the direct response unit. This team responds to assigned task such as, hazardous waste removal and oil spills and is also specially trained to handle chemical and biological weapons. Currently, the subdivision is under the management of Captain Roderick E. Walker.

    The installation is the chief helicopter base for the United State Marine Corps on the Eastern Coast and is effective in its training provisions for operating the Marine Corps aviation units. Since 1954, this base has been executing successful missions in management of the Marine Corps Outlying Landing Field Camp Davis and the Marine Corps Outlying Landing Field Oak Grove.

    This New River subdivision was also the first base to accommodate the new VM-22 Ospreys. The base is nestled on approximately 2, 600 acres of land, which constitutes 560 acres of swamp lands which is ideal for wildlife accompaniment. In July of 1954, the Marine Aircraft Group-26 was transferred from the Cherry point to gain residency at New River. This group comprises of 2, 100 Marines that are assigned to a total of 8 squadrons.

    On May 1, of the year 1972, the facility was rearranged, due to the deactivation of the Marine Helicopter Training Group-40, which was replaced by the newly developed Marine Aircraft Group-29. This group comprises of 2,100 Marines assigned to a total of 7 squadrons. The controls at the New River subdivision includes, the MWSS-272 which offers logistical support to the MWCS-28 and the MAGs and the H and Hs oversees the air station’s garrison activities. All operatives are professionally detailed in their field activities and are always alert to engage in combat.
