There is only 1 military base in Delaware (DE). While there is only one base in Delaware: Dover Air Force base it still managed to make economic impact of over half a million dollars.

While small, Delaware plays a notable role in the United States military structure through the Dover Air Force Base (AFB), which is the state’s most prominent military installation.

Dover Air Force Base is located in the central part of the state, in the capital city of Dover. It is one of the largest Air Force bases on the Eastern Seaboard and is critical in global airlift and mobility operations. The base is home to the 436th Airlift Wing and the 512th Airlift Wing, known as the “Eagle Wing” and the “Liberty Wing,” respectively. These units operate fleets of C-5 Galaxy and C-17 Globemaster III aircraft, which are among the military’s largest and most advanced cargo airplanes. They are used to transport troops, supplies, and equipment to locations worldwide, supporting peacetime and wartime missions.

A key feature of Dover AFB is its massive aerial port, which is responsible for the movement of cargo and personnel as well as the aerial delivery of humanitarian aid. The base also hosts the Charles C. Carson Center for Mortuary Affairs, which is the Department of Defense’s largest joint-service mortuary facility and the point of entry for American military personnel who have fallen in overseas conflicts.

In addition to the Air Force base, Delaware’s contribution to the military includes a strong National Guard presence. The Delaware National Guard consists of the Delaware Army National Guard and the Delaware Air National Guard, which support federal and state missions, from disaster response to overseas deployments.

The state’s location along the Eastern Seaboard also makes it strategically significant for logistics and transportation. Delaware’s proximity to major metropolitan areas and its access to key transportation routes enhance its ability to support military operations.

While Delaware may not have many military installations, Dover AFB’s role in military transport and logistics, combined with the state’s strategic location, make it an important part of the overall defense network of the United States. The state’s military and civilian communities are closely integrated, with many veterans and service members choosing to reside in Delaware due to its favorable tax policies and cost of living.

    The Delaware Dover Base is situated right in Dover belonging to Delaware. This is right in the very center of Delmarva (Maryland, Delaware and the precious Virginia) the peninsula.  This base was constructed back in 1941. It is huge and Colonel Manson is currently commanding this facility.  It has expanded its doors a lot and it is today home of the known 436th Airlifting Wing, along with the 512th Wing, & the Force Reserve huge Wing. Sometimes, this is even referred as the so called Liberty Wing. The Delaware Dover Air Force consists of 3,900, 2 runways. In addition, it has more than 1,700 buildings!

    The Delaware Dover Defense sources are magnificent; this is in terms of the capabilities such as its aircraft and all the equipment which is directly assigned especially to its base- in monetary terms, it pretty much costs around 5.8 billion dollars. Moreover, this air force even provides around $470 million every other year that goes to local economy- This is also related to the ranking claiming that is Delaware’s 3rd largest industry.     In addition, the Delaware Dover Team’s has a specific and perfect goal. The mission is pretty much to emphasize on amenities to fly great and to fully provide many strategic global airlift capabilities. This way they can enhance their current development and their performance can touch the sky. Their main mission then is helping a lot since they even house an extensive aerial port which is the biggest one worldwide. The port is also the most extensive one in the Delaware Defense Department and you may already know that it plays a very important role as to honor a spot where killed personnel bodies remain.
