In addition, unlike the Korea of the postwar period, this had a clearly limited border assuring the stability in South Korea. Moreover, the guerrilla war, the terrorism, the sectarian violence and the chaos in Iraq lack foreheads. They are even omnipresent to a great extent like in Vietnam! With the collapse of the Soviet Union, it eliminated the need Strategic of supporting military bases with conventional forces in Germany and other Europa’s parts, while the accumulation and constant strengthening of the forces in South Korea like in Camp Casey. This facility works properly to meet the needs of the corps. Yet, a worry afflicts South Korea, of where Washington would withdraw more than 12.000 soldiers, included 3.500 that will be sent to endorse to the besieged American forces in Iraq.

Camp Casey Pro-Life Center (PLC) under General ‘Gunfighter’ Emerson. Assigned to HHC 2nd Inf. PLC from 1/72 Armor in November of 1974.

Many fond memories and personal attachments that are with me still. Some of the best times in my life were spent there.

I arrived at 7th Signal Co at Camp Casey in Sep 1954 after IX Corps was closed. My rotation date was in Sep 55.

The Engineer Bn was across the road from us and the 32 Inf was a tad closer to the MSR. Where the British NAAFI was situated. The NAAFI’s hot tea, sweetened with milk was a welcome during the winter.

The Engineers had a Class 6 operation that furnished us a lot of Seagram’s VO. The VO’s “ribbon’ was a command tolerated “short timer’s” badge, (under ? 30 days?).

I was assigned to; Co. C, 2nd Aviation Bn. (Casey) as a SP4-SGT from; ’78’-’79’ and then again to; HQ/A Co., 302nd Forward Support as 1SG from; ’94’-’95’. There was even a commissary on the camp when I returned in ’94’!!! I wasn’t aware of any guest house on either Camp Casey or Camp Hovey but there are many hotels/motels in TDC (Tongduchon). We worked/soldiered extremely hard preparing for war (like when I was in the *82nd Airborne Division) but we partied hard as well! TDC was party central in South Korea in the 70s but not as popular in the 90s. SECOND TO NONE & FIT TO FIGHT are/were our mottos.
